On June 11, 2026, the Polish National Science Centre (NCN) announced the results of two additional grant competitions: OPUS 30+LAP/Weave and SONATA 21. We are proud to announce that among the 16 successful researchers from the University of Gdańsk, two are members of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics!

Prof. Michał Horodecki a winner of the Jan Heweliusz prize for year 2025

We are proud to announce that Prof. dr hab. Michał Horodecki (International Centre for the Theory of Quantum Technologies - ICTQT) has received the Jan Heweliusz Scientific Award of the City of Gdańsk for 2025 in the science and natural sciences category.

Professor Michał Horodecki, in his gratitude for the award, emphasized the influence of his immediate family on his scientific passion: "I am not someone who has reached this point on my own, under my own power. I was carried by the environment around me – by my family home."

Dr. hab. Thomas Zlosnik wins the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Scientific Award

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Thomas George Zlosnik from the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics University of Gdańsk, has been awarded the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Scientific Award of the Polish Academy of Sciences for his achievements in physics.

Dr. Zlosnik was awarded for his series of papers: "Theoretical and Experimental Aspects of Extensions of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity."
