FMPI's student a world vice-champion in the ice hokey championship!

We are happy to announce the great achievement of one of our students! Ms. Julia Łapińska - studying sports at the Academy of Physical Education and Sports, and practical informatics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the University of Gdańsk - together with her team won the Vice-Championship of the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship!

This year's Championship was held in Bytom, where the Polish team competed with Mexico, Taiwanese Taipei, Iceland, North Korea and Spain. On April 13th, 2025, the Polish team ended the decisive clash with the Spanish team with a thrilling result of 2:4, thus winning the Vice-Championship of the IIHF Women's Ice Hockey World Championship (Division IIA). Ms. Julia scored four goals in the Championship and was ranked fourth among all the Championship shooters!

Ms. Julia has been training hockey since she was five, currently making every effort to combine studying with sports. Together with the Polish Senior and Junior National Team, she took part in many tournaments, including pre-qualifications for the Olympic Games. She is a three-time vice-World Champion and a ten-time medalist of the Polish Ice Hockey Championships. On March 22nd, 2025, she won the bronze medal of the Polish Tauron Women's Hockey League Championships with the GKS Stoczniowiec Gdańsk team. In the statistics of the entire season, she took sixth place out of 197 players!
