Take part in the workshops and perform during the Pomeranian Researchers' Night
How can research findings be turned into a compelling story? What captures an audience's attention when talking about science? And how can you become a more confident public speaker?
We invite researchers interested in developing their science communication skills to participate in the Science Show workshop series, culminating in a live presentation during the Pomeranian Researchers' Night.
What is the Science Show?
The Science Show is a series of short, 10-minute talks designed to make science engaging and accessible to a broad audience. Each presentation is prepared by a different researcher, covering a wide range of disciplines and topics. Despite their diversity, all talks share one common goal: to present science in a way that is clear, engaging, and inspiring.
Following the presentations, audience members have the opportunity to take part in an informal Q&A session, ask questions, and continue the conversation with the speakers.
From Research to Storytelling – Public Speaking Workshops
The Science Show is preceded by a series of workshops focused on public speaking and science communication. During the sessions, participants will learn how to captivate an audience, incorporate storytelling techniques into their presentations, and communicate complex scientific ideas in a simple and accessible way.
The workshop series will conclude with participants delivering their own Science Show presentations during the Pomeranian Researchers' Night on 25 September 2026.
Why Participate?
The ability to communicate research in an engaging way is valuable far beyond public engagement events. Researchers regularly present their work at conferences, thesis defenses, grant interviews, and scholarship competitions. The quality of these presentations can often play a significant role in advancing an academic career.
The Science Show workshops provide an opportunity to strengthen communication skills, gain practical stage experience, and learn techniques that will be valuable both in academia and beyond.
Registration
PhD candidates and academic staff employed at the University of Gdańsk are invited to apply for the workshops and the Science Show presentation during the Pomeranian Researchers' Night.
The number of places is limited.

- a short video (up to 60 seconds) introducing your research area and explaining your motivation for participating in the workshops.
