Q-Camp 2025 Summer School | August 25th - September 4th

Q-Camp 2025 is behind us! The two-week summer school, a result of the collaboration between the University of Gdańsk and Kainos, took place at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the University of Gdańsk from August 25th to September 4th. This year's edition was held under the title Frontiers of Machine Learning in Quantum Technologies 2025 (FMLQT25).

Q-Camp attracted interest from around 50 students, out of which over 20 top candidates were ultimately selected. In total, the school brought together around 50 students and lecturers from more than 10 countries worldwide.

Over the course of two weeks, participants immersed themselves in the fields of quantum computation and quantum communication through a hands-on workshop-based format. The program concluded with SpeedTalks - short presentations in which each participant had 3 minutes to introduce themselves in the context of their project, research, thesis, or simply their quantum interests.

But as we all know - students do not live by science alone! The first week was packed with excitement: an integration event at UG, a Kainos night-out, and an exciting tour at Gdańsk Old Town.

Participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of quantum computation and communication, including topics such as quantum information, quantum error correction, machine learning in cryptography, and both classical and quantum artificial intelligence.

This year’s outstanding teaching staff included the program coordinators: Dr. Akshata Shenoy and Dr. Antonio Mandarino from the International Centre for Theory of Quantum Technologies (ICTQT), as well as: Dr. hab. Karol Bartkiewicz, Prof. UAM (UAM), attorney Roman Bieda (AI LAW TECH Foundation & Kozminski University), Soumya Das, PhD (Eindhoven University of Technology), Dr. Markus Grassl (ICTQT), Dr. Karthik Hosapete-Seshadri (ICTQT), Tamás Kriváchy, PhD (The Institute of Photonic Sciences), Prof. Elena Simona Lohan (Tampere University of Technology), Moein Naseri (ICTQT), Dr. Eng. Marcin Płodzień (The Institute of Photonic Sciences & Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech), Prof. Enrico Prati (University of Milan), Prof. Matteo Rossi (Algorithmiq), Dr. Giovanni Scala (University of Bari Aldo Moro), Prof. UW, Dr. hab. Magdalena Stobińska (University of Warsaw).

The hands-on sessions were conducted by the reliable team of ICTQT tutors: Fernando Almaguer-Angeles, Shahana Aziz, Idriss Hank Nkouatchoua Ngueya, Aravinth Balaji Ravichandran, Abhyoudai Sajeevkumar Saleena, Gerardo Suarez.

At the closing ceremony, a speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. hab. Marek Żukowski, Director of ICTQT. Certificates and souvenirs were handed out by Patryk Jar (Innovation Tech Lead at Kainos) and Dr. hab. Marcin Marciniak, Prof. UG, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics at UG.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all organizers and teachers involved in this fantastic project, as well as to all participants - we hope you will remember Q-Camp 2025 and your time in Gdańsk as a unique and enriching experience. Thank you, and see you at Q-Camp 2026!

The main sponsors of the event were InvestGDA and Invest In Pomerania.
