This training will provide a comprehensive introduction to multi-stage stochastic programming, a powerful framework for decision-making under sequential uncertainty. The session will be structured in three parts:
- Foundations: Core concepts, modeling approaches, and solution techniques
- Mobility Application: Strategic planning for clean bus fleet transitions (BEBs & HFCBs), featuring a large-scale case study based on Istanbul’s public transport network
- Campus Application: Long-term planning for clean electricity systems, illustrated through a case study of Middle East Technical University and its carbon-free electricity transition target by 2040
These applications demonstrate how advanced optimization techniques can support real-world decisions in clean energy transitions, incorporating uncertainty in technology evolution, costs, and operational dynamics.
