UG publication programme
UG Publication Programme - a fund to subsidise the dissemination of research results of University of Gdańsk employees and doctoral students at UG doctoral schools
Who can benefit from the Programme?
The following may apply for funding for publication under the UG Publication Programme:
1. employees of the University of Gdańsk carrying out scientific activity who have submitted a declaration on the field and discipline indicating in it the basic discipline or disciplines included in Appendix No. 3 to the UG Statute,
2. doctoral students of the doctoral schools of the University of Gdańsk representing the basic disciplines included in Appendix No. 3 to the UG Statute.
The conditions for applying for funding for publications within the UG Publication Programme are authorship, co-authorship, chairing the editorial team of scientific publications that have been published in prestigious scientific journals or by prestigious scientific publishers, and publication, in a given year of the Programme.
What can you obtain by participating in the Programme?
- funding for publishing costs and open access to publications,
- publication allowance/universal grant for an employee/doctoral student for publishing a paper in a prestigious journal or publishing house.
The amount of the publication allowance for an employee (one-time stipend for a doctoral student) depends on:
- the prestige of the journal based on its classification in a specific percentile according to the Cite Score/Journal Impact Factor value for journals assigned to a category (discipline) in the Scopus/Web of Science Core Collection database,
- recognition for the journal or publisher in the scientific discipline,
- the reach and size of the potential audience for the publication, including the availability of the publication in international circulation.
The maximum amount of the allowance/scholarship is defined in para. 12(1) of the Rector's Order No. 127/R/23 of 17 November 2023 on the fund for subsidising research results - "UG Publication Programme".
For articles that have been published in journals included in the Scopus/Web of Science Core Collection database and ranked in the highest ten percentiles according to Cite Score/Journal Impact Factor, the maximum benefit amounts referred to in paragraph 1 of the Ordinance may be increased by 300%. If a journal is ranked in the highest five percentiles the maximum benefit amounts referred to in paragraph 1 may be increased by 400%.
What publications can be submitted to the Programme?
Publications that have appeared (or will appear) in a given year of the Programme and have been published in:
- journals with min. 140 points
- publications included in the ministerial list at level II.
How to submit an application?
- In order to obtain a grant for publication/open access costs, please submit the print Application for obtaining a grant for publication and open access costs under the "UG Publication Programme".
- In order to obtain the benefit, please submit the form Information on publication achievements of a UG employee/doctoral student of the UG doctoral school within the "UG Publication Programme".
- Academic teachers apply electronically through the Employee Portal.
- Doctoral students of doctoral schools and other employees submit applications electronically in the form of a signed scan to the email address programyIDUB@ug.edu.pl. Model applications can be found in the appendices at the bottom of the page.
When will the results be announced?
The decision on the award of funds from the UG Publication Programme is communicated in the Employee Portal (academic staff) or by email (PhD students and other staff) by the 20th of the month following the month in which the application was submitted.
There may be a slight delay in the announcement of the decision during the holiday period.
Those who have received funding for publication/open access costs will also receive a decision by email (specifying the task accounting number).
The payment of the benefit to the employee/doctoral student is scheduled to be made at the end of the month in which the decision is issued.
